ATRIUM at the 4th International Conference on Sustainable Building Materials
From 22–24 September 2025, the ATRIUM project was represented at the Renewable Materials Conference (RMC) 2025, held in Siegburg, Germany.
The conference brought together over 400 participants from 29 countries, offering a global stage to discuss the latest innovations and solutions for building a fossil-free chemical and materials industry. Topics ranged from biomass utilization, CO₂-based technologies, and recycling, to policy frameworks, biodegradability, and competitive strategies for the future of sustainable materials.
One of the highlights of this year’s event was the Renewable Material of the Year 2025 Award, which went to Cyclize (DE) for its breakthrough plasma reformer technology that transforms mixed waste and CO₂ into syngas: a step forward for circular and carbon-smart production.
ATRIUM’s contribution
ATRIUM joined the poster session on Day 1 and Day 2, during the lunch break, with the presentation: “Fossil-free wood polymer composites for the next generation of terrace decking.”
Our partner Wood K Plus, represented by Jürgen Leßlhumer, showcased ATRIUM’s approach to advancing bio-based construction, presenting how wood polymer composites (WPCs) developed in the project can serve as sustainable, high-performance alternatives to fossil-based materials in outdoor applications such as decking.
The RMC provided ATRIUM with a valuable opportunity to connect with experts from across the bioeconomy, exchange ideas, and highlight how our project is contributing to building tomorrow with bio-based construction solutions.
