ATRIUM in Austria: From Knowledge Sharing to Collaboration at CIRPLEX & SETAC 2025
This May, ATRIUM was in the spotlight at two major events in Austria, showcasing the project’s goals, materials, and methodologies while reinforcing our commitment to sustainable innovation in construction.
Spreading the Word at CIRPLEX 2025
From 14–15 May, Wood K plus represented ATRIUM at CIRPLEX 2025 – The Future of the Plastics Industry, held in Klagenfurt. The event brought together a wide array of technology providers, stakeholders, and innovators from the circular economy and plastics sectors.
Wood K Plus used this opportunity to share ATRIUM’s mission and materials, distributing project leaflets and engaging in meaningful exchanges about the role of bio-based materials in the future of construction. As the project gains visibility, these connections are key to building bridges between R&D and industry.
Engaging in SSbD Dialogue at SETAC Europe 2025
Meanwhile, in Vienna, ATRIUM was also present at the SETAC Europe 35th Annual Meeting — one of the most influential conferences in the field of environmental science and sustainability assessment.
As part of the event’s training sessions, Ivana Burzic (Wood K Plus) delivered a hands-on course on the EU Safety and Sustainability by Design (SSbD) Framework. She shared case studies drawn from EU projects — including ATRIUM — and explained how SSbD principles are being applied to ensure the safety, circularity, and performance of new materials in construction.
We were also proud to have César Silva from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (BGU) in attendance, who is leading the SSbD implementation within the ATRIUM project. This session highlighted the importance of cross-partner collaboration and the growing relevance of SSbD across research and policy discussions.
Building Visibility, One Step at a Time
From leaflet distribution to expert training, this week has strengthened ATRIUM’s presence in key European innovation spaces and deepened our collaboration across partners and sectors.
And we’re not done yet next week, we’ll bring you highlights from another policy-focused workshop in Brussels, where ATRIUM had a seat at the table to discuss its contributions to EU bioeconomy strategy.
