Exploring Safe and Sustainable Innovation: ATRIUM at the BioNanoNet Annual Forum & BNN Networking Session
On 7 October 2025, ATRIUM took part in the BioNanoNet (BNN) Annual Forum and Networking Session, a major event bringing together researchers, innovators, and industry representatives to exchange knowledge and explore collaboration opportunities in the fields of bio-, nano-, and advanced materials.
This year’s edition, hosted in Linz, Austria, focused on the growing role of biotechnology, nanomaterials, and sustainability in shaping the next generation of industrial and scientific applications. The event featured keynote presentations, networking sessions, and guided visits to cutting-edge research centres including Johannes Kepler Universität Linz (JKU), CHASE, WOOD K Plus, and RECENDT.
Pitching ATRIUM’s SSbD Approach
During the Networking Pitch Session, moderated by Clemens Wolf (BNN), participants had 30 seconds to introduce their expertise and spark new cooperation opportunities. Ivana Burzic from Wood K Plus represented ATRIUM, presenting our approach to implementing the Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) methodology across bio-based material value chains. This short but impactful session allowed us to connect with organisations working on similar challenges in the areas of sustainability, advanced materials, and circular design.
Beyond the presentations, the BNN Annual Forum also included site visits to research infrastructures such as JKU’s BIO³ lab, CHASE’s LIT-Pilotfactory, and WOOD K Plus’s Bio-based Nanomaterials facilities, providing hands-on demonstrations of sustainable polymer production, polymer waste recycling, and advanced nano-characterisation techniques.
ATRIUM’s participation reinforces our commitment to cross-sector collaboration and to ensuring that new bio-based construction materials are not only high-performing but also safe and sustainable by design.
Special thanks to our partner WOOD K Plus and Ivana Burzic for representing ATRIUM and contributing to the ongoing dialogue on sustainability and innovation.
